Profiles of 250 places, buildings, homes and places in the Western New York area that have or should have historic markers. A full page is dedicated to each location, so each profile provides information about the place and the people that were associated with it. In addition to the three main authors, several other local historians and authors contributed profiles or material for the book. The book is structured by town. Each town section is preceded by an introduction about the history of the municipality. These town sections are written by town Historical Societies, Town Historians and other area authors.

There is at least one photo of each historic place and additional photos in the introductions. The photos are a combination of historic and current photos, taken by various photographers in the WNY area.

This is the perfect book to keep with you when traveling throughout the WNY area. The book will provide information about places you are visiting and since it is compiled by municipality, you can find other historic places to visit based upon your location.

from Buffalo & WNY -the Early 1900s

The book differs from Volume I: Historic & Influential People from Buffalo & WNY - the 1800s as the biological sketches are more detailed and include information about family members and/or associates of the individual being profiled, along with the residences, buildings, and businesses they built. This approach yields details about hundreds of contributors to the fabric of WNY during the first half of the 20th century.
